Chris Culbert is a criminal defense attorney with Mayes Telles PLLC. He is passionate about vigorously defending clients against criminal charges.
Chris is an Operation Desert Storm veteran. After an honorable discharge Chris was accepted into the police academy. In a short period of time Chris became one of the top DUI and vehicular crimes investigators at the Scottsdale Police Department.
After retiring from the police department, Chris attended law school. While in law school he was a prestigious summer internship with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. During 2 semesters with the County Attorney’s Office and a third with the Avondale and Buckeye Prosecutor’s Offices, Chris was a Rule 38 certified student attorney. He was the lead trial prosecutor in several criminal trials including a multiple count felony case and DUI trials. Chris is the only known student attorney to lead a felony jury trial at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Upon graduating from law school Chris joined the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office where he successfully defended clients against felony charges, securing victories in trial and through aggressive pretrial work. He then moved to private criminal defense where he continues to secure victories for his clients.
Chris has unique experience as a retired police officer and former member of prosecuting offices which he uses to greatly benefit his clients.
