Blake Cormie is a criminal defense attorney at MayesTelles. Blake has represented clients in a wide range of criminal matters including felonies, misdemeanors, and appeals. Blake’s thorough, strategic, and aggressive advocacy has benefited his clients by securing victories in his trials and pretrial litigation.
Before joining MayesTelles, Blake devoted his career to representing individuals charged with crimes in the Yavapai County Superior Court. During law school, Blake externed at the Arizona Supreme Court Staff Attorneys’ Office where he assisted in drafting memoranda for the Justices of the Arizona State Supreme Court. His appellate experience has benefited his clients by creating a strong record on appeal. He also externed for an Administrative Law Judge at the EEOC Federal Hearings Unit. Blake vigorously defends his clients and develops effective and creative case strategies to meet each client’s specific circumstances.
In addition to his felony, misdemeanor, and appellate experience, Blake also represented clients facing probation violations and was a member of the Yavapai County DUI and Drug Court team where he worked with judges, prosecutors, treatment providers, and the Adult Probation Department to effectively advocate for participants facing discharge from the program and revocation of their probation. He has also represented clients in hearings for Petitions for Court-Ordered treatment and assisted in Petitions for Sexually Violent Persons.
Before law school, Blake graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Political Science and Spanish with certificates in International Studies and Arabic Studies. Blake’s studies have taken him abroad to several countries including Yemen and Egypt after receiving the United States Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship. His experience abroad, his experience volunteering with refugees through the International Rescue Committee and Lutheran Social Services, and his experience with foster children as a Court-Appointed Special advocate has given him experiences with working with individuals from all walks of life.
